Q: Which of your traits is your own kraken? Why?
Lord Tennyson's poetry, "The Kraken", is one of the great masterpiece of his work. When you first go through the poem, you will understand its meaning, both literally and metaphorically. Literally, it is referring to as a mythical animal or referring as religiously that it is a giant creature of God. The creature, Kraken is not yet discovered but it shows the darkness or evilness of human nature such as greed, jealousy, hate, rage, anger, etc. No one in this world is perfect and it's natural to have minimum one dark aspect in one's nature which is hidden from the outside world. A trait which no one knows about it or not yet fully explored it. For me, that one trait would be greed and jealousy which would be my own Kraken.
Jealousy is not a bad or negative trait if you thought about it mentally, but if you think about or do it physically, then it will be a serious matter. It is like a mixture of sadness, competition, anger. If you are a good student and top achiever in your class, but if someone else scored better than you in his/her examinations, then you will try much more than him/her. So, I thought that jealousy is better and you can't succeed without having it. If you are going to a company as a trainee or to gain work experience and anyone else there has shown a better performance and got a compliment trip to Malaysia. Then you will try much harder so that you could also a complimentary trip to anywhere. Jealousy to me is a type of encouragement especially in my academic studies, not a negative aspect, whenever I see someone getting more marks than me than I just become sad and depressed and don’t talk to that person the whole day and try to focus on my mistakes. Jealousy besides academic means to me getting no bonus pocket money that my brother gets. Jealousy to me doesn’t mean to harm anyone or anyone’s emotions or feelings; it’s just a motivation and support to me to score and perform better in my class.

On the other hand, where the Greed is concerned, it is not a bad trait in yourself and you think to get loads and loads of cash until you do it physically, then it will be counted as a negative point. I have been very fond of money. Everyone knows how powerful money is. People who are saying, "Money can't buy happiness", needs to forget their old traditions. Money can buy everything; love, happiness, etc. And everyone knows that what great significance does money have. But I don't want a life of great ceremonic or a life of being a famous star, and that type of a lifestyle. But I want to have that lifestyle in which I could earn enough money to support my family and so that my grandchildren could also spend it freely.

I would call this greed my Kraken, because even though it’s just unobjectionable and safe feeling deep down inside a student. These habits are unexplored for others, it can be put down as a dark thought in worldly terms. I think that jealousy and greed are my Kraken, but they are only performed mentally. Greed always reminds me of the worth of money and Jealousy gives me encouragement to score better. I think that my Kraken is not as much dangerous as others as it’s harmless but I can’t say this with complete surety because it never comes out (performed physically).
